IFFGD's support of research is directed to the field of functional GI and motility disorder researchers and the community of patients and families that are directly affected. So much more remains to be done – and together we are the ones who can do it. The power for change is in each of our hands.

IFFGD has conducted and published important research surveys on IBS.

These have challenged conventional assumptions that minimize IBS, and raised awareness of the needs of those affected by IBS.

Our direct support of research began in 2003.

To date we have presented 24 Research Awards and 5 Research Grants. There are many more deserving basic and clinical researchers who we hope to support someday. Our awards and grants help attract, retain, and support researchers in the field where discoveries are possible.
